Do you know where your food comes from? St. Rose of Lima students do.

If you asked your child where they thought tomatoes came from, what would they say?

Around the world, many are concerned that children do not know where their food comes from. A survey conducted in the UK found that 33% of UK children believe that cheese is made from plants, 25% think fish fingers come from chicken or pigs, and 10% thought tomatoes grow underground, according to British Nutrition Foundation (BNF).

Many experts argue that if children do not know where food comes from, they will not be able to make healthy food choices later in life. St. Rose of Lima’s beautiful garden provides the opportunity for students to become curious about plant growth and food. Meanwhile, the students have fun getting their hands dirty.

The garden project aligns with St. Rose of Lima School’s mission of empowering students to reach their spiritual, academic, social, and physical potential!
